Y Silver Link was awarded the GOOD SO Outstanding Social Enterprise

The 2nd GOOD SO Outstanding Social Enterprises Award was organised by JCI Victoria, to commend social enterprises for their efforts in training talents and maintaining excellence. Believing in “letting the active elders demonstrate their strengths”, HKYWCA’s Y Silver Link became one of the eight social enterprises that stood out from over 500 applications and received the GOOD SO Outstanding Social Enterprise Award.

Y Silver Link believes in the experience of the elders and hence hires them to run the business. The retirees can at the same time achieve their potentials. We do not arrange compulsory on-the-job trainings for the experienced elders. Rather, we encourage lifelong learning in which they can choose to enroll in any courses that suit their interests and needs.

Poon ran a factory before retirement. After joining Y Silver Link, he has incorporated his previous skills into the social enterprise’s product management and enhanced the overall efficiency. Poon’s enthusiasm is being recognised and the Association grants him the opportunity to finish a course in occupational therapy during office hours. Now, Poon also acts as a consultant in elder quality living and often delivers speeches on ageing in place.

Y Silver Link will continue to promote active ageing and encourage elders to share their valuable experience. With the elderly household product retail platform, and the DIY renovation project which will be launched soon, we will strive to cater all the needs of the elderly and their carers.
