HKYWCA organised a teen programme that raised awareness of violence against women

In response to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and sponsored by Zonta Club of Hong Kong East, the Association’s Women Affairs Department organised a programme for the students from Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long) to raise awareness of violence against women.

The Association hosted six workshops for a group of F.1 to F.4 girls to discuss sexual harassment, dating and domestic violence. They visited an organisation concerning violence against women, interviewed victims of domestic violence, and watched a video about sexual violence. Our social workers then conducted a thorough discussion on dating and domestic violence with them to consolidate their knowledge and build their resistance.

After the workshops, the students set up an exhibition with some game booths to promote the message of eliminating violence against women to their schoolmates. The Association hopes the girls can continue to act as ambassadors to increase awareness in the community and prevent further violence against women.
