HKYWCA corporate parties were awarded in the Construction Industry Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony

The Association nominated the “Welcome Home: Elderly Safe Living Scheme” by Swire Properties Limited and the Cantonese Opera Show by Hip Hing Construction and Vibro (H.K) Limited to join the first Construction Industry Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony, and both received recognition.

The “Welcome Home: Elderly Safe Living Scheme” by Swire Properties Limited won the silver award. The programme assisted the elderly to achieve “ageing in place” by enhancing their home facilities and reminding them the importance of home safety. Occupational therapists and volunteers conducted risk assessments for the elders’ apartments to identify safety problems e.g. insufficient lighting, too many miscellaneous items and wet floor. According to the report, the volunteers sent nightlights, bathroom anti-skid carpets and handrails, bathing stools etc. to the elder’s home and helped install. They also explained the usage to them. Moreover, the volunteers worked with Y Fitness to hold fall prevention home exercise workshop, to train the balance and muscular endurance of the elders. Over 280 volunteers, from teenager to elderly, took part in the programme, which was a success in fostering transgenerational harmony.

The Cantonese Opera Show organised by the Hip Hing Construction and Vibro (H.K) Limited received the bronze award. Not only did the volunteer team coordinate the preparation work and the logistics arrangement of the event, but also took good care of the participants during the event. The programme encouraged the aged to engage in social activities and develop hobbies that contribute to active ageing.

The Construction Industry Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony was organised to promote volunteer services among the industry and bring positive message to the community.
