HKYWCA Career and Life Adventure Planning Service Team participated in the Annual CLAP Conference 2018

HKYWCA Career and Life Adventure Planning Service Team was invited by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to take part in the Annual CLAP Conference 2018, to share the practices and experiences through seminar and youth-led experiential activities.

In one of the parallel sessions, the Association’s representatives introduced “Own Your Life: The Future Journey of Young Mothers”, a project that aims to help young mothers to understand their own talents and values, to strengthen their role as a mother, and to prepare them for their career and life adventure planning. The Association is also keen on working with corporate partners to provide career-based trainings for them, so as to let them explore suitable jobs and careers.

Moreover, the Association’s CLAP team members hosted three youth-led experiential activities. Mr. Wong, an amateur boxer, shared how the programme assisted him in chasing his dream in boxing. Some talked about the environmental protection work in Japan and taught the audiences to make eco-detergent. Others mentioned how they learnt about hydroponic farming while volunteering in Taiwan. These sessions not only allow the youths to share their experience, but also demonstrate how values, attitudes, skills and knowledge are changing the young generation.

In 2015, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust launched "CLAP for Youth @ JC", a five-year career and life adventure planning programme for young people aged between 15 and 21. With its professional services and experiences, HKYWCA is entrusted as one of the programme partners.
