What's New
Y-SENse is now in service!

YWCA Jockey Club Family Wellness Centre has launched the self-financed Y-SENse services to support and empower children with special educational needs (SEN). It provides comprehensive, quality and interdisciplinary support to SEN children, parents, teachers and social welfare workers, to build a healthy environment for kids to develop their talents.

An interdisciplinary team of educational psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and speech therapists provide assessment, counselling and customised trainings for children with dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder, and speech and language impairment, to improve their learning ability, social emotions, behaviours etc.

The first “Intensive Interdisciplinary Training for Children" will start on April 23, and be conducted in small groups. Each lesson will focus on one topic, e.g. cognitive development, communication skills, self-care ability, sensory integration, etc. The instructor will evaluate each child’s progress with reference to the individual training plan. Parents’ day will be held every six months to ensure parents understand the development of their children. For interested parties, please fill in the application form at https://goo.gl/forms/dvxF2SCJ3CSMw69P2, and our colleagues will follow up with you.

Moreover, we organise seminars and workshops for teachers and parents to assist them to understand the needs of the kid, especially via first-hand experience of the difficulties and limitations faced by SEN children.

You are invited to visit and like the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ywcaysense, where case studies, education kits and teaching guidelines to be used at home will be shared.
