The HKYWCA was appointed as the operating organization for the Mongkok Y.E.S. by the Labour Department in late 2007, and subsequently for the Kwai Fong Y.E.S. as well in June 2010. HKYWCA is now the sole organization to run both of the Y.E.S centers.

Starting from 1999 and 2002, the HKYWCA was funded by the Labour Department to launch the Youth Pre-employment Training Program and Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme (YPYP&YWETS). The scheme provides pre-employment training, consultation, on-the-job training, job referrals and case management services to young people aged 15-24 with educational attainment at sub-degree level or below. There are 14 social service units under the HKYWCA involved in promoting the scheme. The HKYWCA has organized nearly a thousand courses in the past, offering diversified services to over ten thousand young people. We now have a professional crew formed by over a hundred registered social workers with employment consultation experience to offer young people personalized employment support services. The service quality of our trainees has been officially recognized by the “YPYP Most Improved Trainee Award” and “YPYP&YWETS Most Improved Trainee Award”, of which 13 trainees were awarded already as of now. This honors HKYWCA as the training body with the most number of awarded trainees in Hong Kong.
The HKYWCA was appointed by the Social Welfare Department in October 2006 to implement the first My STEP Program (STEP is short for: Special Training and Enhancement Program) in Tin Shui Wai. The program aims to help long-term and young recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) with low motivation, to rejoin the workforce or return to mainstream schooling. As the result was satisfactory, we were subsequently appointed to launch phase 2 and 3 of the program. The HKYWCA is hence the sole organization implementing this program for 3 consecutive phases.
My STEP aims to provide challenging and inspirational training to young CSSA recipients, whom lack motivation, to develop their potential. Participants are encouraged to build up their self-confidence and set up goals to consolidate their abilities with which they can make an independent living. The training body has to offer the participants a series of systematic motivational and disciplinary training activities, such as self-exploration focus group, wilderness adventure and military training, etc. Counseling and home-visits service will be provided to understand the participants’ actual needs. Suitable trainees would be referred to join the Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme launched by the Labour Department. The HKYWCA is now enforcing phase 3 of the program in two major districts, namely “Tuen Mun and Kwai Tsing Districts” and “Yau Tsim Mong and Wong Tai Sin Districts”.。

Face Resume
How could young people impress employers among other candidates for an interview opportunity? In view of this, the HKYWCA is the first to launch the “Face Resume” scheme, of which video recording service is offered to each candidate to document a 2-minute self-introduction clip. The clip will then be submitted to the employer with the CV. This innovative face resume could highlight the edge of young people for higher interview opportunities. Young people could also receive professional interview tips from our Face Resume workshop. Their self-introductions are thus more comprehensive, yet with a personal touch.
